Welcome to TJ Bob's Home Page. The TJ stands
for Tejano and I chose that name because I
like Tejano music. I live in Plano, Texas,
and I'm a telecommunications instructor. I'm
retired, but still working, on contract. My
hobbies are desktop publishing, photostyling, RV
camping, and talking in Talk (politics, misc) on wbs.
I like books about history, Indians,
and Mexico, preferably written in Spanish.
That way I can kill two birds with one stone,
enjoy reading and improve my Spanish
vocabulary at the same time. As for my
politics, I consider myself a moderate
Republican and a Libertarian sympathizer.
Thanks for visiting my page.
I have another page at Angelfire. That page
is an extension of this page. "Anecdotes,"
"Footprints" and "Views on Viet Nam" have been
moved to the Angelfire page. I love the
"Footprints" poem so much I hated to move
it, but I needed the space.
FAVORITE AXIOM:
I cried because I had no shoes, then I saw a man who had no feet.
FAVORITE PRAYER
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Strength to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

KEY DEMOCRATIC LEGISLATOR BACKS BUSH
Fort Worth Star-Telegram, February 15, 1998
Asscoiated Press
AUSTIN - Republican Gov. George W. Bush picked up the endorsement of a powerful Democratic state legislator
Thursday. His Democratic opponent suggested that it may have more to do with the lawmaker's ambition than
public policy.
Mr. Bush won the backing of Rep. Rob Junell, D-San Angelo, chairman of the budget-writing House Appropriations
Committee.
"He's a person who's been bipartisan, a person who's worked with all elements of our state, all elements of the
Legislature. As a result of that, the Legislature and Governor Bush have been very successful," Mr. Junell said in
an interview.
"If you've got a guy who's been there and done the job and been successful, I think you've got to dance with the
one that brung ya," the lawmaker said.
Mr. Bush said he was honored to win the backing of a top Democrat.
"Rob ... is known as a tough watchdog for taxpayer's money. He is respected on both sides of the aisle, is a major
influence in the Texas Legislature and is a leader of his party," Mr. Bush said.
Officials of Democrati Garry Mauro's campaign said Mr. Junell made his announcement after the lawmaker sought
Mr. Mauro's help in securing an appointment from President Clinton as a federal judge. A longtime Clinton friend,
Mr. Mauro twice headed the president's Texas campaign.
Rob Junell asked for Gary's help with the White House in getting a federal judgeship. Of course, Junell's not a
federal judge," said Billy Rogers, Mr. Mauro's campaign manager.
Mauro spokesman Joe Cutbirth asked: "Does it appear Rob Junell may be going to a Republican who wants to be
president? Rob Junell's actions speak for themselves. Has he had similar conversations with Governor Bush?"
Mr. Junnell dismissed the contention, saying the issue a judicial post had nothing to do with his endorsement of
Mr. Bush.
"First of all, when I talked with him [Mr. Mauro] about this a long time ago, he told me he would help me. But
there's no vacancies where I live for a federal judge," Mr. Junell said.
"I have the highest respect for Garry Mauro. Garry Mauro has been a fine land commissioner. If he was running for
land commissioner or some other office, I'd be supporting him this time as well," Mr. Junell said.
Bush spokeswoman Karen Hughes said the question about a judgeship was "way too hypothetical," noting that
Mr. Bush hasn't even decided whether to run for president.
"He [Mr. Junell] believes the governor has done the best job on the issues that are most important to Texas -
eduction, juvenile crime, welfare reform, a healthy business climate and a responsible state budget," Ms. Hughes
said.
Mr. Junell isn't alone among legislative Democrats lining up behind the Republican governor. Democratic Lt. Gov.
Bob Bullock was among the first to endorse Mr. Bush's re-election bid.
Mr. Mauro, in a written statement, said he wasn't surprised - or concerned about the endorsement.
"When I'm governor, I'm going to change the budget priorities of this state and put Texas families first. So, with
a few sterling exceptions, every lobbyist, every power broker in this twon is against me. They are fro the status
quo. I'm not," Mr. Mauro said.

Where the Name "Butterfly" Came From
Many years ago the beautiful insect that we now call the "butterfly"
was called a "flutterby" because that's what it did. Some people
jokingly distorted the name and called it a "butterfly." Finally the
name stuck.
The Commodore PET
Remember the Commodore PET computer. It appeared not long after the
PET rock. The manufacturer decided to capitalize on the pet rock fad
with their PET computer. Later as the pet rock fad faded, they
changed they meaning of PET to, "Personal Electronic Translator."DEFINITIONS
